On Sunday 27th November, St Andrew’s had a Giving Day for Hope into Action, a Christian charity that was founded in 2010 by Ed Walker, who was our speaker at the 10 am morning service. You can hear his talk if you follow the link under ‘Recent Sermons’. The charity aims to house and support the homeless throughout the UK in partnership with local churches. They currently operate in 32 towns and cities across the country and have opened over 100 houses since 2010. Ed Walker, the founder, (who used to work for Tearfund in Darfur, Sudan) describes his experiences of setting up and growing the charity in his challenging and inspiring book ‘A House Built on Love’ (2020). In this he describes how his chance meeting with a ‘poor wanderer’ on a park bench inspired him to set up the charity based in Peterborough. Into what can seem a depressing and hopeless situation, Ed and his charity bring real hope. To find out more, visit https://www.hopeintoaction.org.uk.
