Message in the Movies returns Sunday at 5.30pm in the Hall annexe. This term’s film is ‘God on Trial’ a BBC film first shown ten years ago. It was written by Frank Cottrell Boyce (a committed Roman Catholic and the writer of the opening ceremony of the London Olympics). It takes place in Auschwitz and wrestles with the whole issue of faith in God in the context of such appalling suffering and evil. It is written from faith but it doesn’t spare a ferocious questioning of belief. The film lasts 90 minutes and will be followed by silence, reflection and Night Prayer.
