Just before the lockdown our organ builders were able to dismantle the organ and remove the necessary parts of it to their workshop. They have just about completed that work and the new console has been built too. Our contractors are now able to come on site and will be beginning their work on 22 June. They need to do repairs and electrical work in the organ chamber; then the organ—its pipes and soundboards—will be reinstalled, the new wooden screen into the chancel fitted, the chancel floor repaired and restored, and the organ ‘voiced’. This should mean that our renovated organ will be up and running in the early autumn. (ahead of schedule!).
