“For the love of Scrubs” – Donations please!

Due to Covid-19 a much larger group of health professionals are having to wear scrubs as part of PPE. This has led to a shortage of these. An A&E nurse set up “For the love of Scrubs” on Facebook asking for volunteers to make some. Thousands of people have signed up all over the country. I’m part of a local sewing team making scrubs for Papworth, Cambridge and Peterborough NHS (mental health trust) and Addenbrooks.

Last week we delivered 55 sets of scrubs, 4 tops, 26 scrub caps and 24 laundry bags to hospitals and community workers. Everything is provided free of charge to the health professionals. As a group we are running out of money to buy more fabric, which we can bulk buy at wholesale prices. We are fundraising for this as well as asking for unwanted duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases which we can use too, patterned or plain, cotton or polycotton, only requisite is that it can be washed at 60°. I can collect bedding or you can leave it on my doorstep.

If you would like help us financially to buy more fabric our GoFundMe page is

or it can be given to me and I’ll pass it on. Any questions please do get in touch. Thank you for your help. Lesley Mackie: lesleyemackie@gmail.com
