Cambridge Refugee Resettlement Campaign (CRRC) spoke at St Andrew’s on July 17th for our Gift Day. We are still accepting donations until Sunday 31st July; please put these in a gift aid envelope (whether or not you are using gift aid) marked “CRRC” and put them into the collection during the service. CRRC provides support to the families that are being resettled in Cambridge from the camps bordering the conflict in Syria. For example, they provide clothing, as these families often arrive with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. ‘Welcome packs’ are given to arriving families including culturally appropriate grocery packs and toys/equipment for children and babies based on each family’s needs. CRRC provides interpreters to help with any questions or challenges families might have as they arrive in this new country, and also arranges qualified ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teachers to teach English lessons for the adults in the family. CRRC has provided the existing families with bicycles and are raising funds to buy helmets, visibility jackets and other equipment as well as arranging cycling and road safety lessons. We hope to raise a good sum for this important cause. Thank you.
